It was definitely a plus to be able to bring all of my stuff over here with just one car! Everything was in it's place in two hours, especially because my sister was there to help me. It has also been very easy because all the furniture was already there. Of course this will not be the case for most students, as usually people get their own room, but if you're not really sure about moving out, I think it is a good option to try it out first in someone else's room!
The first night was a bit strange, suddenly I was living with strangers and was alone in a room where I was going to live the next couple of months. It didn't feel like a good thing at that point. I didn't feel at home in the room and it was just odd to be there without my friend. It really still felt like her space. I just wanted to go home, to be honest. But of course, I didn't. I just tried to get some sleep and told myself that I would feel better if I woke up the next morning. And I did!
Everyone as to move out of their parents home at one point and for some people this is easier than for others. For me, it was a bit hard in the beginning, but I knew I could go home any time I wanted to. I also tried to shake of the sad feeling I had, because I want to enjoy living in this room! It is scary to live on your own at first, but it also opens a door to a lot of freedom!
What I enjoyed most of all was being able to go to uni by bike! It may sound silly, but after two years of having to take the bus every day, it is really nice to have a bit of fresh air before starting your day. Another thing that I quite like, is that everything is really close by. The room is in the city centre of Nijmegen, so I can get to every store I want in about 5 minutes. Uni and the sportcentre are about 15 minutes away and all my friends from Nijmegen are 5 minutes away as well!
I hope you enjoyed this little post on what's happening in my life at the moment. I'm planning on writing a little post with tips on moving out as well, so you can expect that soon!
ps. I've been away for a bit, but I want to start writing again! I'll try and write a post every week at most.
